Meeting came to order 7:40 p.m., present were Theresa, Dini, Helen, Becky, Hal, Sandy, Dave, Kristie.
Minutes of 9/26/91 meeting were read, corrected, approved as corrected.
Finance Committee: Sandy distributed projected startup expenses and finance report and discussed membership loans. He hopes to raise $10,000 from the board, then go to membership for the balance of the projected $66,925 expenses. Much discussion followed with concerns of burying ourselves in debt with loans, opening with less stock (no coolers, etc.), attracting shopper/members with a fully stocked store, not to mention giving paid members something to show for their cash. Sandy elaborated on the next step the committee will take, including contacting the board members individually for loans, finishing the financial statement. Sandy suggested that Becky Fitzpatrick speak to the board about her interest in serving on the board. Becky spoke, we voted and elected Becky.
Building Prep: We hired Michael Dailey as contractor. He and Ben Solomon talked regarding ceiling repair. Bob Jacksy is building renovation volunteer coordinator. Helen suggested we vote on drop ceiling or dry wall ceiling. Sandy moved we go with drop ceiling, Jeannie seconded. After discussion the motion carried unanimously. Hal suggested we send Dailey to Carter lumber to price compare materials.
Fundraising: Kristie read letter to send to major donors, then circulated it for board signatures. She spoke about fundraising and P.R. efforts for the future.
Education: Newsletter is typed. Helen brought copy and read edited article by Dave for membership. Dave will get revised four food groups posters for the store.
Membership: 105 paid members. No committee meeting in past two weeks. Dini spoke of phone tree to encourage general members attend the 10/22 meeting. Dave will call all chiropractors and Christy Smith for mailings to patients/clients or newsletter exposure in waiting rooms. We concluded that the general membership meeting will be postponed until 11/12. Planning committee meeting will be at Coop 10/27 at 7:00 p.m. All committee chairs will meet with Theresa to plan for the meeting. We adjourned sometime after 10:00.
